Wooow was the lunch with this dindigul briyani...!!! Just chatting over the phone with mom on a sunday morning she was talking about the recipe she got in a newspaper and the briyani turned out too nice. I was very tempted and tried the recipe the very same day, From then on, I have only been trying this. Just the briyani with raita is enough for the whole day!!! 

Dindigul Thalapakatti Briyani is prepared with seerga samba rice which is a short grain unlike the basmati rice, the blend of the spices and the meat to a very flavourful, aromatic and hot briyani!!!

Don't be giving a second thought to prepare this briyani after seeing the long ingredients list. I have just sorted the ingredients to make the preparations very easy. Once you prepare the masala's and pastes, briyani will be very easy to prepare. Just go ahead and check out the recipe!!!

My blog is just three months old, so my thirst to know more about blogging and food photography is very high. I missed posting my first picture for the series#1 where we should shoot a yellow fruit or veggie. I took the picture but forgot to schedule. So, here goes my first shot for the event.

Ven Pongal is my dad's most favorite breakfast along with vadai, sambar and coconut chutney. I started making this very often as its very tasty, healthy and easy to prepare in minutes when I get up very late in the morning. Having started knowing the benefits of millets, the first recipe I tried with millets is this and it turned out very well than I expected and my hubby couldn't notice the difference in the rice actually and he felt it tasted more than the regular. Chana Masala always reminds me of my friend in college, who used to bring this amazing tasty chole masala with bhatura. Even now, her mom's chole masala is the best to me. This recipe is close to my friend's mom recipe. My mom's recipe is different which I will post soon. That suits for kids as it is less spicy but very flavourful. Spinach Egg Curry is an Indian style curry made with boiled eggs and spinach. My amma makes vazhaipoo vadai very often and it goes well for meals and also as a evening tea time snack. I never expected my Darling Husband to even like it when I first made it, but he got addicted to the taste of vada and asks me to make it very often. So my helper does the cleaning and gives me, I happily make vada and vazhaipoo curry for rice at ease. Sometimes I am lucky to get the cleaned vazhaipoo florets in the super market. Eggless Butterless Chocolate Cake was simply chocolicious. A cake free of butter and egg with full of chocolate flavour is definitely one of the best. My mom used to make many sweet varieties with millets and in each visit to home she surprises with a new recipe and they taste awesome. Starting with a sweet it was easy for me to bring millets in to our food. I was very surprised by the taste when I first made this Samai Mushroom Briyani, it had more than the usual flavours and taste with our regular basmati rice. I enjoy eating mushroom and briyani, and this was a real treat for a mushroom lover like me. It was difficult convincing my DH to eat this as he hates mushrooms and is very choosy with healthy foods :P But I wanted him to get the benefits of traditional foods, so made Samai Chicken Briyani for him and never expected him to like it so much..!!! Now I make samai ven pongal, kambu adai dosa, kambu chutney, cholam dosa, thinai idly, varagu coconut rice, thinai payasam frequently. 

Samai Mushroom Briyani being my favorite among the millets family, I am posting this recipe first. Soon you can find many millet recipes on the space. 

Samai or Little Millet is best replacement for white polished rice and its good for digestion, diabetics, cures stomach related problems and maintains overall health.
