To Temper:
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 2 tsp
Urad Dhal (Split) - 2 tsp
Curry Leaves - few, finely chopped
*****The batter not be thick and fluffy like vadai or idli batter. It can be slightly runny.
Method of Preparation:
1.. Measure both into separate vessels and soak for 3 hours maximum and 1 hour minimum. Grind raw rice first for 5 minutes and then add urad dhal adding water little by little. Add salt and grind to smooth batter. Transfer to a container and keep aside. The batter can be slightly runny like dosa batter but not very runny as it will drink more oil. Heat oil in a small wide pan, and add the items to temper.
2. Add onions, green chillies and coconut. Saute well for few minutes and transfer to the batter. Add turmeric powder and salt required to the batter. Mix well and keep aside.
3. Heat oil for deep frying, once hot drop in the round balls of batter slowly. Turn and cook both sides.

Notes:
- The batter is easy to prepare and the shape can be easily formed, so beginners can easily try this. Not be worried getting the right consisitency of batter.
- But must be careful not to make it very runny as the batter will drink more oil.
- My amma adds grated carrot also to the mixture.
