I can never come back from Kerala without having these yummies!!! It is an famous keralite snack available everywhere. I have always preferred to buy the roadside ones. After marriage I hardly get chance to visit Kerala with my family, so make these at home these days!!!

Baking Powder - 1/2 tsp
Sugar - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
Water - 3/4 cup or adjust as required for thin consistency
Coconut Oil / Cooking Oil - For Frying
Notes:
- It is optional to add Cumin Seeds to the batter.
- Deep frying in coconut oil gives the authentic flavour but you can fry in other cooking oil too.
- While slicing the plantain vertically, you can make very thin slices like I have or slightly thicker. Its your preference.
- The batter should not be very thin, else the pazham pori will absorb more oil.
- Turmeric Powder is used for the colour. Don't add in excess.
Method of Preparation:
1. In a bowl, add maida, baking powder, sugar, salt and turmeric powder. Add water and mix to a thin consistency. Adjust water accordingly. Peel the plantain and hut into halves. Then slice each half vertically into four pieces.
2. Heat oil in a frying pan, dip each slice in the batter and drop in hot oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes in medium heat on both sides till its cooked and turns golden brown. Remove and serve hot!
Make tea/ coffee to complete the snack!!!
